HB 1096 by Rep. Rob Orr
(R-Burleson) expands the number of APNs and PAs to whom physicians may
delegate prescriptive authority from 3 to 5, and loosens the site and
record review requirements. PatientsFIRST opposes any expansion of
prescriptive authority and lessening of site base requirements.
HB 703 by Rep. Mike
Villarreal (D-San Antonio) creates a license and board for “lactation
consultants” in Texas. PatientsFIRST opposes any licensing efforts
which do not include parameters to prevent future scope of practice
issues.

have been heard in the Public Health Committee and left pending.
